Genius Aulad

Research and Development Journey

Posted by: admin on: June 14, 2011

Genius Aulad’s R&D crew has took a step to the United Kingdom for a research and development journey.

‘’We learned a lot from exposures and hands-on experiences. We went to libraries and had simple storytelling sessions with the children there,’’ says Puan Zaliza, Founder of Genius Aulad. ‘’The Islamic development there is growing rapidly. It is indeed a non-muslim country, but the Islamic institutions there are indisputable,”.

The United Kingdom is also well known as an education hub. We would feel our mission is not complete if we didn’t go there to seek possible future affiliations.

Thanks so much to Islamic Relief UK and Worldwide, Islamia Primary School founded by Yusuf Islam, Nottingham Nursery Training Centre and also Megabase Training Consultancy for making it beyond meaningful with so much knowledge to share!

Me and My Musolla Trip

Posted by: admin on: April 20, 2011

In family meetings, we usually discuss with our family members about their individual problems. Here’s a typical list of family attitude:
- Naim can’t wake himself up for school.
- Sarah likes to hang around upstairs while dinner is being cooked.
- Dad watches football like there is nothing more important in the world.
- And Mama is left with most of the chores around the house.

Sound familiar? Don’t all of us just wish there was one final solution? A solution to those loathed habitual problems? According to THE manual of life – the alQuran – the answer to all that is right in our neighbourhood. It is the masjid or musolla itself. It is just a matter of popping the question : ”Why don’t we spend more time at the Masjid, like we always do at the park?”.

Every time our family arrive at the Masjid or Musolla, remind our little ones that we learn a lot from the simple things we do. We learn respect by behaving in proper manner before, during and after performing prayers. From our effort of going to His house everyday, we adopt discipline. After taking the wudhu’, turning off the water taps can prevent us from wasting it. And just by sitting down, waiting for the Imam to arrive, we can sought in rewards for the Hereafter.

So to all admirable parents of Genius Aulad – going to the house of Allah is not just for occasional prayers, it can be a session to change ourselves for the better. Me and My Musolla Trip was planned for this purpose of learning to love the Masjid.

Our little khalifahs were clearly ecstatic while on their journey to the neighbourhood Masjid. They recited the Du’a together, and sang songs that remind them of how wonderful Allah is in every way. When they arrived at the doors of the Masjid, the children arranged their shoes messily on the shoe rack. Some of them even arranged them in order of colors!

After they had taken their Wudhu’, the children were redirected to the praying hall, where they were told to lower their voices to respect others who were performing their prayers. ‘Oh, kita kena hormat ya?’ said one boy. Clearly he understood that ‘respect’ is one of the most important character in life. When they were done reciting their honest and sincere Dua’ to Allah individually, the children were all in the spirit of giving. In fact, they were all for it when our teachers offered the donation box to them.

Discipline. Respect. Honesty. Sharing. Some of the most important traits to live with.

A Morning with the Rubber Tappers.. beyond the trees

Posted by: admin on: April 18, 2011

It might seem like a simple trip to many but seriously speaking, our kids nowadays know more of the cartoon characters and brand names in shopping malls than names of trees, even simple trees. On the way to the rubber plantation, the kids were so amazed to know the “Pokok Durian” as if it was some kind of mascott. They were also excited to know the difference between “nangka” and “cempedak” which happen to look alike and  share the same name in English, the jackfruit. It was really a long walk and we were all under  a hot morning sun.At each stop they made, they’d take the opportunity to drink from the tumbler. So really, it was not an ordinary walk for boys and girls who normally spend hours window shopping  in air-conditioned hypermarts or shopping mall. But no, they were not deterred by the inconvenience. In fact, they were so excited running about that teachers had to always call them, “Children, please walk in your group. Don’t run, walk”. Well, weren’t we all like that when we were kids – to walk means to run, to run also  means to run :) . Reaching the rubber plantation was of course the peak of the excitement. Some kids got the chance to try out rubber tapping (with their hands held, of course)  but most others preferred to be jaw-dropping and looking at the rubber milk streaming into the cup. They were reminded that the milk is not an edible yogurt drink of some sort. It was cute that some of them thought it that way.  Here’s a simple note we can share with our children about process of rubber tapping that they have seen: 1. Rubber tapping is hard work. It can starts as early as 2 in the morning. 2. A special tapping knife is used to shear off a thin layer of rubber tree’s bark.3.The latex flows into the cup attached to the tree.4. The rubber tapper will then go back to each tree and empty the latex collected in the cups into the tin5. The latex is poured into moulds.6. The formic acid is added to transform the liquid latex into a firm solid block of rubber.7. The rubber sheet is manually rolled using the mangle several times to make it thinner by squeezing out the water.8.  The drying of the rubber sheets then  takes place in a “smoke” house.9. The dried rubber sheet is golden brown as opposed to white initially.10. The dried rubber sheets are now ready to be sold and be processed as rubber bands, balloons, tyre, rubber boots, rubber stamps and many more. They might not be able to explain clearly what they saw but the exposure that they have gained was inexplicable. They might also not be able to remember everything but the time spent with their childhood friends in the tranquillity of  village life is acutely palpable. It is something that an urbanite may never get to  experience !

so this is called Durian tree..
“nangka” or “cempedak”..how do you describe the difference between these two jackfruits? This goes without explanation when we were small, we just knew it..but not to the kids of today..
Pandan leaves..this is what makes your nasi lemak smells so yummy…small daily things that we sometimes overlook to share with the kids.
rubber tapping.. dont try this on mommy’s trees at home!
from liquid to latex..it’s a magic showtime!
rolling the rubber sheets..cool!
rubber estate owners..

Read To Me, Mom!

Posted by: admin on: April 15, 2011

”Mama, can Imad go to Bronald’s.. please?”
Perhaps, we are too familiar in this world of fast foods, fast cars, and fast networks. Maybe our child should catch up as a fast learner too? From the trials and errors shared by the awesome mothers of ‘Read To Me, Mom’, we learn that our child’s development and readability shouldn’t be rushed.

Children are not to be compared to one another. Each and every child’s brain and body development has been gifted in many unique ways by Allah s.w.t, so what’s the hustle and bustle? Just take your time and have heaps of fun.

The mothers of ‘Read To Me, Mom’ also shared the know-hows of encouraging them to balance learn and play. Reading together on the couch and making sock puppets for ‘storytime’ are not just ingredients of laughter for our little ones.. it could also be a stress-reliever from work too!

It Happened with Joy!

Approved. A simple yet short word to explain our new experience. On the 16th of December 2010 Genius Aulad’s crew went to PWTC, Kuala Lumpur for Majlis Penganugerahan Lesen Francais 2010, Kementerian Perdagangan Dalam Negeri , Koperasi dan Kepenggunaan. It was an event as our franchising license came to succeed. We are welcoming our five new franchisee for Genius Aulad at Bandar Baru Bangi, Bandar Botanic, Bandar Kinrara, Seksyen 23 Shah Alam and four centers in Kuala Lumpur.

This event was officiated by Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaacob, the Minister of Domestic trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism. We would also like to give our appreciation to Tuan Said, our franchising consultant. From now ahead, Genius Aulad’s mission can be spread widely. We are glad to achieve this stage of development as this shows that people are will to entrust us to educate more children in the future. Thank you for believing in Genius Aulad!

Trained for an Improvement.

Posted by: admin on: December 27, 2010

March and scream your lungs out! Fret not as Pedagogical Continuous Improvement program was held. It is also known as our training camp program for our teachers. It was a two-day activity held from 9th to 17th of December 2010. This activity took place in Intekma Resort, Shah Alam for the 1st and 2nd camp whilst the third one was held at Kota Kemuning Golf & Country Club.

In this program, our teachers had their own fun time to act, guiding through mock teaching session, creative time with recycle materials and lastly, our very own Emotion Quotient time with a training and consultancy expert, En. Mustafa Zainal. This program was meant for our teachers to improve their teaching skills for our children in the future.

Apart from that, this camp has brought all the teachers from all the centers of Genius Aulad closer together. Although some teachers were already assigned to move to another center, it was an opportunity for them to get to know the other teachers and their experience too. Alhamdulillah, we hope that our teachers will become better teachers and to love our children in guiding to become better Khalifah of Allah.

Besides  that, our children were able to brush up their skills with our fun with coloring activities and exciting puzzle games!

To complete our Open Day, everyone went home with contentment. Meals were prepared specially catered to our children and parents who had their day with us after having all activities. Event parents were happy to see their children happily explored our schools and gained a lot of knowledge on our Open Day itself. We are so delighted and honoured to be given the trust to educate our kids in the upcoming term. 2011, may it will be another knowledge achievement and improvement year ahead.

Another Graduation, Another Farewell.

Highlights of the event
Cheerful and full of melodies described 25th of November 2010.  Another fun ceremony was held as the 10th Annual Graduation Day, ‘Little Ihtifal’ was a day of celebration for our children. Our kids have finished their pre-school programmes at Genius Aulad after 3 years of learning with fun and exciting environment. We are proud to see them in their graduation robes. Congratulations to all our teachers who have worked so hard for our kids. Not to forget, our teachers have also trained our kids to their best for the performances on the same day. We are very impressed and entertained by our little ones performed on the stage. This day was a very special day to us as we received so much attention by the media. Our ‘Little Ihtifal’ will be broadcasted soon on TV3 Kids Voice Out, TV3 Kids’ News and last but not least TV9, Adik di 9. Apart from that, among the special guests were En. Che’ Amran and Abu Bakar from non other than the most popular Nasyid group in Malaysia, Raihan! We really appreciate them for being a part of this wonderful event.

Indeed this was a memorable event, but we have to face the truth that this graduation also means a farewell for our little ones who will be stepping into elementary school next year. We hope for the best for our children and we always pray for their success and happiness. May the experience and the knowledge they have gained from Genius Aulad will not be wasted, nor forgotten.

Whilst inside the mosque is where everything was being arranged by the fellow teachers and principals of Genius Aulad. They ran back and forth to set up the sound systems, projectors, laptops and mock up of the props. The arrangement was made so that the graduation ceremony and the performance is done alternately centre by centre.

Everything was cut short as the rehearsal began around 10.00am and ended by 1.00pm. Although there were no actual costumes, props and visual effects prepared, our kids performed happily on the stage. When the rehearsal ended, everyone waited for their bus while enjoying their lunch with each other.

To Learn is To Play

Posted by: admin on: July 28, 2010

‘Playschool is here. Let’s go to school to play!’ – is what we want to teach the early pre-schoolers.

Aiming at 2 to 3 years old, this playschool program is where kids learn to play and play to learn. Confused? Playschool is a new program offered by Genius Aulad. It is all about playing, having fun and enjoy.

This program is non-academic based and the aim is to create an atmosphere of learning through play, opportunities that nurture the physical, emotional, social, intellectual growth and most importantly, ISLAMIC values instilled for each child.

Such positive concept is the one that shape a child’s future experiences.

As it is essentially important that school is a place where the child would enjoy learning and that both individual and group works have rewarding activities.

Other than that, the program is based upon a fun challenging broad-based educational program incorporating free play and structured play, based around a child’s interest.

The children at this age are encouraged to participate in group art, language, drama, music and movement, cognitive development, stories, puzzles and games.

At the same time we also provide activities where children are put in smaller group to enable them to build up solid relationship with adult with other children of their own age and also to allow children to work on challenging tasks at their own level.

The session is available 2 and 3 times weekly for a 2 hour-session for participating outlets of Genius Aulad.

Remember, to learn is to enjoy learning!
